Almost Heaven's Salem starts at $4,036.50 with a 6 kW heater. Redwood's six-person Barrel with Porch lists at $6,999 with its standard heater package. The useful comparison is what each delivers after you pay for the base, power and assembly.
For traditional heat, those are two concrete starting points. For a modular cabin with a local dealer involved, compare Finnleo NorthStar. For outdoor infrared, compare Sun Home Luminar in its own category. Spending more on wood or a brand name does not prove better winter performance.

Almost Heaven Salem: Compact Traditional Entry Point
Salem is worth comparing when two people will sit upright and you have limited outdoor space. The checked configuration includes the 6 kW KIP heater. Its 240V/30A hardwired requirement is separate from the lighting's listed 110V/15A supply.
Almost Heaven lists a 39¼-inch bench length and 16-inch bench width. That is a concrete reason to choose a larger room if lying down matters. A person count alone would not tell you that.
The brand's published wall thickness is 1⅜ inches. It is a single-wall barrel, so do not buy it expecting an insulated cabin. Ask about the exact heater and your coldest outdoor conditions. The cold-climate guide explains what evidence to request.
Redwood Outdoors: More Room, With a Package Check
The Barrel with Porch is a useful comparison when Salem's seating is too small. Redwood's checked product page includes stones, asphalt shingles and a 6 kW KIP in the standard package. It also lists several heater upgrades.
The KIP options illustrate why the order matters: Redwood lists 240V/30A for 6 kW and 240V/40A for 8 kW. Have the electrician work from the selected heater's manual, not the default product screenshot. Controls and roof upgrades belong on the same quote.
Do not equate thermally modified wood with an insulated wall, or a higher price with documented cold-weather performance. The previous version of this guide implied that Redwood was automatically the better harsh-winter choice. Finnleo NorthStar: Define the Dealer's Job
NorthStar makes sense for a buyer who wants a modular cabin and someone local to discuss placement and installation with. Finnleo lists three sizes, pre-built wall panels, a Designer-SL2 heater, Wi-Fi control, an integral floor and a metal roof kit.
The product page does not supply a universal installed price. Get a dealer quote that states the chosen size, heater rating, delivery boundary, assembly, electrical work, anchoring and service responsibilities. Dealer involvement is useful only when those tasks are actually included or assigned.
Check the exact wall construction and installation manual for your climate. A rectangular cabin gives you different bench and room-layout options from a barrel, but its shape by itself does not establish insulation or snow-load suitability.
Sun Home Luminar: Choose It for Outdoor Infrared
Luminar 2 fits the buyer who wants radiant infrared heat outside rather than a traditional heater with stones. The checked product page lists an aluminum exterior, cedar interior, included protective cover and dedicated 240V/20A supply. The live listed price is $10,999.
Its outdoor label does not remove site preparation. Sun Home requires a level, load-bearing surface with drainage and model-specific service clearances. Its cold-weather operating statements are manufacturer claims, not an independent winter test by Sauna Guide.
Check the Luminar-specific warranty, not the Equinox warranty. The current terms separately list the exterior cabin, controls, glass and other components. Our older seven-year blanket description was too broad. The current page also says choosing not to use the included cover does not, by itself, void Luminar coverage. Other exclusions and installation conditions still apply.
If published VOC or EMF testing matters to your decision, request the report for the exact model and tested configuration. A brand-level result is not proof that every cabin has the same measurement. For the indoor infrared choices, use the infrared model comparison.

For delivery damage, inspect the freight and record problems before assembly. For later cracks or movement, distinguish the maker's definitions of a manufacturing defect and normal wood behavior. Ask specifically about leaks, rot, glass damage, heater parts and repair labor; a lifetime headline rarely answers all of them. Compare the exact construction, heater, installation and usable space.
